Generate an SSL Certificate and Signing Request Print

You can easily generate a SSL Certificate and Signing Request using the built-in feature in WHM for any domain on your server.

Steps

  1. When the page loads, set the following:
    • Email Address the Cert will be sent to - Enter the email address used for the recipient of the certificate you are creating.
    • Host to make cert for - Enter the domain name associated with the certificate's account.
    • State - Enter the state associated with the certificate's account.
    • Company Name - Enter the company name associated with the certificate's account.
    • Country (2 letter abbreviation) - Enter the country two letter abbreviation associated with the certificate's account.
    • City - Enter the city associated with the certificate's account.
    • Company Division - Enter the company division associated with the certificate's account.
    • Email - Enter the email address associated with the certificate's account.
    • Password - Enter the password associated with the certificate's account.
  2. Click on the Create button.
  3. The next screen displays the following:

"Certificate Request and Key for HOST_IP_ASSOCIATED_WITH_CERTIFICATE"

You will also see the following:

  • KEY (RSA KEY) - Visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSA to learn more.
  • CSR (Certificate Signing Request) - Visit http://wiki.cacert.org/wiki/CSR to learn more.
  • CRT (Self Signed Certificate) - Visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-signed_certificate to learn more.

 

  1. The certificate you created in the steps above will be stored on your server. Once you have finished generating your certificate, read the Install a SSL Certificate and Setup the Domain document.
